What do you do about your fear of new situations? - Sunny
Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”
As we live out our lives we all must adapt to “new situations”. Maybe you have to move and go to a new school and make all new friends. What if your daddy loses his job and your entire family must learn how to live differently – maybe with less money. Or, like our family, someone dies and goes to Heaven, and everything about your life changes without any warning.
All of these circumstances are scary and can cause us to worry and fear.
But, if you know GOD…there is always Hope and Peace that can be found in the midst of our new situations.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
God’s plans for your life will include new situations. But because God knows all things and His plans for you are good – you can trust Him with everything…including your fears.
Erin – When I walk into a new situation knowing that God already has a plan for me in it…I can trust Him. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have any fear or pretend like everything will be okay. Instead, I talk to God about my fears and ask Him to help me to trust Him in the midst of it.
Camryn – Well, I usually talk to my mother when I’m afraid. And she tells me to talk to God about it in prayer. But, I have to say that knowing verses and what God says in the Bible helps me big time. If God said it – I need to trust and believe it. Easier said then done – but God knows what I need at all times and I ask Him to help me to believe – especially when I’m afraid and don’t understand.
So…Sunny…and all of you girls out there who are in the midst of a new situation…FEAR NOT – for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Talk to Him about all that concerns you – about ALL your fears.
